“This was an old library that I really, really loved. You had to climb up into a dusty attic to get books. Evelyn lived on Atlantic Avenue, the street to the right.”
I remember Evelyn Bates, your mom’s best friend. She was so nice, very smart just like your mom, they were always together. I used to love when she would visit because even though I was younger than they were, they would always spend time with me and I got to have a sneak peek at what it was like to hang around with teenagers. She had an older brother Freddy who was over 7 feet tall, we were all so amazed by him. The whole Bates family was a very nice group of people, I can see why your mom found comfort in her friendship.
