I sent this email to my little sister just a couple of days after my 39th birthday. I was very frustrated when I wrote it, but I was right: You cannot wait for other people to care, because they won’t.

What is the status of mom’s Medicaid application(s)?
You need to start calling every single day to check on this. And you need to start emailing ME every single day with what the current status is until the status is “everything is completed”.
This is now FAR beyond ridiculous and absurd. You need to be ANGRY every time you are on the phone with someone. You need to start calling the same people over and over again, every day, until they are so sick of talking to you that they actually make something happen. We can not just sit and wait for other people to care because nobody else will.
Right now the discharge people at Halifax are talking about transferring her to some place in Tampa that is the only place where she can go with no Medicaid coverage, which means it is probably a complete and total dump. I really don’t want that to happen.
Let me know what the deal is,
I love you,
