I called Dr. Wolf on the morning of October 16th, 2012 because apparently she was concerned about the status of my bill with her for performing the autopsy on mom. I explained that I had unfortunately completely misunderstood Steve Phillips, my attorney; I had thought that his law firm was going to remit the other half of the payment to her on the assumption that they would recuperate it based on the outcome of any case they were able to bring.
Dr. Wolf was very understanding, but made it clear to me that — because of the expenses she had incurred with a toxicology lab — she would be unable to finalize the autopsy and provide results until the balance was paid in full. The total bill was $4000.00, and I had paid her 1/2 of that when she agreed to do the autopsy. So I had to find another $2000.00 as soon as possible.
