“Letters from Mom”

Mom wrote me hundreds of letters and would often send me greeting cards with snipped comics or articles from newspapers or magazines she thought I'd enjoy.

Mom sent me a check on her 43rd birthday. (I have no recollection of the amount.) Included was this short note on her Garfield stationery.

It’s really crazy to think that in 1991 mom was the same age I am in 2017 when I’m writing this. I cannot imagine having a son in his first year of college right now.

Dearest David,

Ok – it’s not much, but it’s a start. Maybe there’s going to be more for us all — God willing. Consider it a belated graduation gift of mad money. Do what you will with it – just remember to use a “little” wisdom. (You need shoes —)

I love you and miss you and I guess I always will. Just try to have a little compassion for the world, your sister and your loving,

Mom

PS. – DO NOT DEPOSIT THIS UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM ME!!! WAIT FOR “ALL CLEAR!!!”

I love you
