In early 2007 mom started trying to get in shape for the millionth time. She struggled with her weight her entire life and tried countless diets and Weight Watchers and plans from late-night TV infomercials, etc. I always would tell her that she simply needed to get some regular exercise, and finally she started doing that. She joined Curves and was very excited about it. She sent me this email after a phone call in which I asked her what she was doing.

Here’s a list of the exercises I do at Curves. They are on machines with walking-in-place in between. There’s usually Beatles music on!
1. Squat (pull down on pads, works gluts, hamstring, quad)
Double Positive – works abdominal and erector spinae muscles
3. Hip Abductor
Double Positive – workes tensor fascia latae and adductors
Double Positive – works pectoral, rhomboid, and latissimus dorsi
5. Leng Extension/Leg Curl
Double Positive – works quads and hamstring
6. Shoulder Press/Lat Pull
Double Positive – works trapezius, deltoid, and latissimus dorsi
7. Leg Press
Single Positive – works gluteus, iliopsoas, hamstring, and quadriceps
Double Positive – works biceps and triceps (duh)
Single Positive – works gluteal, iliopsoas, quadricep, and hamstring
Single Positive – works obliques and quadratus lumborum muscles (whatever those are)
Double Positive – works pectoral, rhomboid, trapezius, and latissimus dorsi
Single Positive – works internal and external obliques
You spend 30 seconds on each machine, then 30 seconds on a “recovery” walk. They take your pulse every 8 minutes.
I love it!!! Can’t wait to go!!!
