“Letters from Mom”

Mom wrote me hundreds of letters and would often send me greeting cards with snipped comics or articles from newspapers or magazines she thought I'd enjoy.

Towards the end of 2008 mom was really struggling financially. She’d been out of work for a long time and unable to find a new job, blown through her pittance of a retirement fund and desperate. Of course I sent her money whenever I could and did my best to help her get a handle on her bills. She sent me this letter after I’d sent her a check.

Dear David,

I can’t thank you enough for all the support you’ve given me these last few months. I thank you for always letting me know that you love me when I am struggling to stay positive.

You’ve given me much more than money. You’ve proven to me once again what a remarkable man you are.

I’m always proud of you; I always count on your love, as I hope you rely on mine to always be there for you.

Love,
Mom
