“Letters from Mom”

Mom wrote me hundreds of letters and would often send me greeting cards with snipped comics or articles from newspapers or magazines she thought I'd enjoy.

Mom was a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox, so the 2004 ALCS was an incredible event for her. We were on the phone together throughout the games and just gobsmacked by those Four Days in October.
At one point during the series she sent me a card with a photo of a smiling giraffe on the front over the caption “How are ya?” and this note inside:

10/25/04
Hi, David!
Ok. 2 games down, 2 to go. Unlike the “Yankees,” the Red Sox will not meltdown. One day at a time.

Got the pictures back and figured I would send both of them to you and T     .

Hope you’re having a great week, and I love you with all my heart.

Love,
Mom

P.S. What are Sox fans going to whine about and stress over after they win?
