May 18 – Day of Renewal (Pentecost)

Praise you so much for the “advance” Friday & Saturday. How I love you, father. What fantastic things you’ve done — you gave to us the workings of your hands. Wow! Let us all do your will.

Whew! Praise you, Lord! You just keep getting better and better!

May 13

Wow! Have to really praise you for another fantastic night! Keep them coming, if you will, father.

I sang my songs for Mom. She really seemed pretty receptive. Then Evelyn & I went to the Mall where we talked with Sue. Please give her your peace, Jesus.

Then we ended up at the O.L.P. prayer meeting. I screamed, “Is there a prayer meeting tonight?” in the hall & walked in on all the guys – who laughed. John asked me, or rather, directed me to sit on the sofa next to him. The theme seemed to be unity & peace and John sang his song. Later Jake came in and punched my arm & asked if I had sung the songs yet. No. Then he asked if I wanted him to introduce them. No. Later, I said okay & he did — apparently fit will with the play and something in it. Then I said about the song coming while I was taking out the garbage. (Laugh – they all did) John said I was even weirder than he is. Then I sang. At first only Jake & Evelyn & Paul helped but in a couple of verses everyone joined in. At the end, Al said, “Remind me to take out the garbage this week, Jake,” “That’s a pretty good garbage song.” Need I say more? You, alone, know how much all this meant to me. (especially Jake) and you alone could give it to me. Praise you. Never let me lose you.

(About the chairs on retreat – I said we’d only need them for the old people – Fran & Jake. Jake said he hated my songs.) Praise you father.

May 12 (cont’d)

Praise you so much, father! Wow! You gave me another song this morning and, for some reason, I took my guitar to the apartment. Well, with much pleading & a lousy voice, I sang them for Fran, Steve, & Irene. They loved them! Of course they would; you wrote the songs, or at least gave them to me. Wow!

Then Evelyn & I went back to the apartment and again I was asked to sing them. And Jake & Irene walked in. (Just Jake walking in would be enough! Father, I really love your servant Jake. Praise you for Jake) And we actually sang them both for Jake and I watched him; he loved them too. Father, what a gift you have given your humble Kathie who by no means deserves it. Wow! Praise you, father. Imagine, Jake said maybe they’re for the retreat and Paul said something about printing them up! Wow! You’re too beautiful, father.

P.S. I really love your songs and how I love you! (Father, they loved the songs because they saw you in them & not me. I’ll try to always remember that. Help me to. Jake actually praised & thanked you for “my” songs. Praise you and thank you for letting me be your instrument. Praise you!!!)

Praise you, father. Thank you for letting me feel so much better so quickly. Fran must have meant it when she said she would pray.

Father please bless Joe. And guide Jake’s every word this morning. Help him to show the priests on retreat what I am beginning to learn — that you are real, you are the only reality.

May 10

Father, I praise you so much and love you so much!! Thank you for Friday and Saturday and for what you’ve begun to teach me tonight.

It still hurts about Joe, father, but I guess you knew that. And, please, I beg you, don’t let this be a “last journey” as in Acts 27, the passage I got when I was praying about Joe. I don’t know if I’m anything special in Joe’s life but he sure is in mine and how it hurts to have him leaving. Could I please get some time to really be with him before he goes? And can I write to him, hoping for an occassional answer? Please, father!

I was really wondering about the shower tonight and the fact that I would miss the prayer meeting. As a matter of fact, I was being pretty rotten about it — sort of spiritually pouting. You know, thinking the meeting would fall apart without me and, more obviously, that I would fall apart without it. I didn’t even get to really seriously pray for the meeting. Well, I praise you and thank you for the passage I got about it.

Galatians 6:3-4
“For if a man imagines himself to be somebody, when he is nothing, he is deluding himself. Each man should examine his own conduct for himself; then he can measure his achievement by comparing himself with himself and not with anyone else. For everyone has his own proper burden to bear.”

Wow! Lord! All at me and you know it. Praise you.

May 8

Praise you so much, father. Thank you for letting me talk to Joe for awhile — you worked it in beautifully. It hurts so much, father, to have him go. Our community and especially Evelyn and I will feel a great loss. Please always watch over him, father. I love him so much and I know you love him even more. That’s comforting. Don’t let him grieve too much over going, father.

Thank you for the meeting last night, father. Thank you for allowing me to serve you if I did at all and please forgive me for whatever I failed to do.

Please bless next week’s meeting, father and send your Spirit again in power, especially on the retreat and the day of renewal. And I ask for guidance if I am to have any role at St. Peter’s, father. Father, let me serve the Holy Ghost community.

Thank you for hearing my prayers, father. I love you. Let me always love you.

Well, it looks like I’ll be writing in a new book from now on; I left the other one at O.L.P. Oh, father, I really hope that if someone finds it, it helps them.

How can I ever praise you enough for this weekend and for today? I love you. I praise you! Let me keep your peace, father. Thank you for the closeness I felt to Jake and Fran and all the kids. Praise you, father!

Father, I pray that you bless the prayer meetings going on tonight, especially the one in West Warwick and the one at P.C. and the one in Ann Arbor because I think they meet on Mondays. Praise you, father and let your spirit guide them, your children who need you.

Billy found this list in a Dave Wilkerson book, Man, Have I Got Problems. I thought I’d write it here because of my lousy memory and because it seems to really fit for me and for the whole community after this weekend. Praise you for the fullness of tongues.

“The Commandments for Charismatic Christians”

1. Don’t act like a holier-than-thou Saint.

2. Don’t expect the Holy Spirit to do your footwork.

3. Quit defending the Holy Spirit – he knows how to take care of himself

4. Never demonstrate your gift to satisfy the curious and never show it off.

5. Don’t get hung up on the gift at the expense of the Giver.

6. Use the gifts of the Spirit to claim the fruits of the Spirit.

7. If you speak in tongues, you must live in victory.

8. Rejoice not that you speak in tongues (or prophecy, etc.) – rejoice that your name is written in heaven.

9. You have been given power from on high to love the lost — see that you do it.

10. Don’t cast the pearl of your new experience before swine or they will turn and rend you. Share it with those who truly seek.
