“Letters to Mom”
One of her journals I found is titled “Letters to Mom”. It’s a collection of letters she wrote to her mother — my “Nana Anna” — starting about four months after her death.
Hi, Mom,
You can’t imagine how much I miss you or how much I wish I could have spent more time with you.
I think of you every day, especially at 7:00 pm when I used to call you. My heart is broken, and, losing you, I feel as if I’ve lost rock, my balance, my comfort.
I miss your hugs. I miss taking you places and talking about cows in the fields.
I miss the silly / wonderful things you gave us all at Christmas, and I can’t imagine it without you.
Most of all, I just miss hearing your voice.
Dic and Amber call you all the time just to hear your greeting.
Love,
Kathie
