Kathleen A. Gagne (personal articles)
February 17th, 2012 @ 8:31 am

My sister asked me to send this email to Connie Wade 1 at Halifax because apparently they were giving her a hard time about returning my mother’s personal items to her. 2 It is a fine example of their strict policy regarding the arbitrary enforcement of their other policies. 3 Dear Connie, This message is […]

I called mom and was able to get her on the phone for a few minutes. It took me just shy of fifteen minutes of being on hold before someone finally got a phone into mom’s hands. [My sister] had just left. Mom only talked to me for a minute or two. She was very […]

A Plea for Help
February 15th, 2012 @ 11:55 am

I sent this email to Delia McClain, a Medicaid Client Services Specialist with ElderSource: Hello Delia, I’m writing to see if I can get a status update on my mother’s case. My Sister Arrives
February 14th, 2012 @ 12:02 am

On Valentine’s Day my sister flew to Florida. Mom’s friend from her church picked her up in Orlando and she spent the night at mom’s apartment. I was cautiously optimistic that maybe now things would start to get better.

I called and managed to actually talk to mom today. The phone call lasted fifteen minutes. The first eight were spent on hold and / or waiting for someone to find mom. But I did get to speak to mom for about seven minutes. Here are my notes from the call: mom was not really […]

Saw Your Mom Today

At 8:00 AM PST I called the Halifax Hospital Psychiatric Unit and left a voicemail for Connie Wade. She returned my call ten minutes later. Here are my notes from the call: Connie said she hadn’t received the voicemail I left for her on Friday, February 3rd, was out Monday and Tuesday, and had been […]

Missed Connections
February 7th, 2012 @ 1:05 pm

I called the line for the “day room” at the Halifax Hospital Psychiatric Unit. An unidentified man answered and said, “Okay. Hold on,” when I asked to speak to Kathie Gagne. A few minutes later he returned to the line and said, “She’s talking with her social worker now. Can you call back in like […]
